I am a Biomedical Engineering PhD student in the
Chen Ultrasound Lab at
Washington University in St. Louis. I am interested in brain
state-dependent closed-loop focused ultrasound neuromodulation, and more broadly in our ability to both read from and write
to the brain: decoding what ongoing neural activity tells us about the state of a circuit, and using that to shape when and
where we intervene.
Before starting my PhD, I was a postgraduate research associate in the
AZA Lab at
Yale University with
AZA Allsop, MD, PhD, where I built a neural
data analysis tool for clustering neural responses into functional ensembles. I also studied how music and mindfulness affect
psychiatric and psychological conditions across a range of settings, combining EEG, heart rate, surveys, and interviews.
2026 I joined The Ckodon Foundation as Co-Lead for Mentor Experience, where I recruit, train, and match mentors with mentees.
November 2025 I presented a poster, Functional Encoding Units represent interpretable attractor-like dynamics in neural ensembles, at Society for Neuroscience (SfN) 2025 in San Diego, USA.
2025 I received the Society for Neuroscience Trainee Professional Development Award (TPDA) 2025, which recognizes trainees who demonstrate scientific merit and excellence in research.
July 2024 I completed the Neuromatch Academy Computational Neuroscience course and worked on a project investigating cell type and layer-specific processing of novelty in mouse primary visual cortex.
June 2024 I presented a poster, An unbiased method to partition diverse neuronal responses into functional ensembles reveals interpretable population dynamics during innate social behavior, at the 10th Annual BRAIN Initiative Conference in Rockville, Maryland.
November 2023 I joined the AZA Lab at Yale University as a postgraduate research associate.
July 2023 I gave a talk on Machine Learning Models Predict Small Molecules as Potential Biotherapeutics for COVID-19-induced Cytokine Storm at the WACCBIP Research Conference 2023 in Accra, Ghana.
April-May 2023 I completed the Simons Computational Neuroscience Imbizo in Cape Town, South Africa.
January 2023 I presented Machine Learning Models Predict Small Molecules as Potential Biotherapeutics for COVID-19-induced Cytokine Storm at the International Student Conference on Advanced Science and Technology (iCAST), Japan, online.

A nonprofit that opens access to educational and professional opportunities, guiding applicants through undergraduate, graduate, and internship applications. I help recruit and train mentors, and match them with mentees.
A continent-wide programme that pairs young African researchers and students with experienced mentors. I matched 50+ mentees with mentors for research and career advice, contributing to publications, presentations, admissions, and job offers.
Instructor · YCCI Exposures Program
March 2025 – August 2025
Instructed 10 high school students in neuroanatomy and neuroscience research methods.
Workshop Facilitator · Health Professional Recruitment Exposures Program
October 2025
Facilitated 3 workshops on health professions for 22 high school students in the Greater New Haven area.
Service & Leadership
Co-organizer · NeuroAI Workshops at Deep Learning Indaba
Organized NeuroAI workshops in Senegal, Rwanda, and Nigeria, attracting 150+ attendees. Delivered a practical tutorial on dimensionality reduction for understanding patterns of neural activity, and coordinated talks and panel discussions from international speakers.
A youth-led nonprofit championing health equity and community development across Ghana through healthcare access initiatives, community projects, and volunteer leadership training.
